We have expanded our marketing department with two new recruits - Assistant Marketing Manager Kenika Gumbs and Apprentice Content Creator Tony K, who is working on his Level 3 qualification.

Both say they are excited about their roles as they settle in and get to know everyone.

Kenika, who hails from the small Caribbean island of Anguilla, came to the UK nine years ago, and combined studying with a variety of part time jobs, going on to pass foundation and bachelor's degrees in business management from Bedfordshire University, and then a master's degree in digital marketing from Salford University.

"I fell in love with digital marketing while I was doing my business studies, that's why I went on to do the master's," explains Kenika. "The digital aspect of the HPP job and its potential is very exciting, and working here is more like being part of a family, which is something I want out of my job."

Kenika's previous experience includes B2B and B2C sales and marketing and working as a freelance social media influencer, publicising products and critiquing them.

And part of her new role is to manage and mentor fellow new recruit Tony, whose apprenticeship with digital training providers Baltic Apprenticeships lasts for 12 months.

Kenika is currently working on our social media strategy, designing a blogging site, copywriting and editing and some graphic design.

Dan Mounsey, our Marketing and Business Development Director, says: "We're delighted to have Kenika and Tony on board. The marketing department is very busy and getting busier all the time. It's a part of the business that we place great emphasis on and by expanding our resources we can now do even more."

A keen photographer and videographer since childhood, this is Tony's first full-time job in marketing, and he says he was attracted to the role because of its potential to grow and develop.

He says: "HPP is a very warm company, and everyone is very helpful and supportive. This is the first time ever I've been excited about coming into work. I'm getting great content done and I now want to refine my skills and learn new ones."

Outside of work, Tony is a keen chronicler of current affairs, using his photographic and video skills to capture news events, public gatherings and demonstrations, often selling footage to news organisations.

Kenika, meanwhile, says she has been inspired to succeed in life following a challenging childhood in Anguilla after her mother, a teacher, passed away when Kenika was only five.

She says: "It was a tough life growing up, seeing my grandmother struggle on a day-to-day basis just to put food on the plate was very difficult, and it has given me the drive to do something for myself and strive to make a better life for both my family and I; and here I am now."
