A big thank you to everyone who has donated to Oldham Foodbank over the past 12 months - but sadly the need is greater than ever.
Foodbank volunteer and semi-retired Transport Manager Pete Greenwood says the foodbank is even more in demand compared to when he started helping out there in late 2021, and he's now renewing his appeal for staff to leave donations at the collection point in reception.
Pete, who has worked at HPP for the past 22 years, spends each Friday morning at the foodbank based in the Prince of Wales Industrial Units on Vulcan Street in Derker, something he started to do after cutting back on his working hours.
He says: "I know it's tough at the moment, but we are struggling to keep up with demand - the cost-of-living crisis is affecting more and more people. Even people with full time jobs are seeking help because they are struggling to feed their children."
Pete, 68, started volunteering at the foodbank on Christmas Eve 2021 after re-connecting with an old pal, Mick Heap, who was already helping out there.
He is one of about 90 volunteers who help out regularly and adds: "We get short of a lot of food items, but tinned meat and fish, pasta and baked beans are always needed."
If anyone can make a donation, then please help this worthy cause.
