As part of our ongoing support to local youth service Mahdlo, we took the opportunity to join in with their recent Yellow & Grey Day, a nod to their corporate colours and a chance for some Friday Fundraising.
Therein followed a non-uniform day, largely observed by the office-based staff but the production teams didn't fancy getting their finest threads dirty whilst working in their various departments, so the vast majority opted for the yellow hi-viz and grey workshirt 'look' instead.
We held a raffle, gave out football scratch cards and had some cakes available. The raffle was extremely popular, possibly due to the first prize being an extra day's holiday. The football cards were also a popular feature, with each department having its own card and friendly rivalries being played out on the production floor. At least we assume they were friendly: there were no injuries or disciplinary breaches reported!
While most of the office staff opted for at least one article of either yellow or grey clothing, special mention must go to Nicole in our Sales team who totally understood the brief for the whole 'non uniform day', going all-out with her outfit. Nicole turned up in a full banana costume, giving us all a good laugh (or should that be banana splits?!). But Nicole's extra effort turned out to be worth it in the end as we gave her an extra day's holiday too for going the extra mile. In all fairness to Nicole, she took her dressing up cue from our Wear It Pink Day in aid of breast cancer research each year, when all-out hilarious outfits really are de rigueur.
And in addition to Nicole's prize for the Best Dressed Banana, she was also a lucky winner in our raffle too. The winners of the raffle prizes were:
- 1st prize - Rob Jenkins (Transport) - Extra Day's Holiday
- 2nd prize - Jack Taylor (Worktops/Stock Doors) - Easter Egg Hamper
- 3rd prize - Nicole Aspinall (Sales) - £20 Amazon voucher
Overall we raised £354.02 on Friday for Mahdlo's current fundraising drive and we'll be continuing to support them with their up-and-coming Golf Day (Friday 30th June) and the ever-popular Three Peaks of Saddleworth the very next day on Saturday 1st July, for which we'll be announcing a team to take part shortly.
Thanks to everyone who took part and contributed!
