Following a successful trial last October where we started using a combination of ABS and melamine edging tape on our white and light grey cut and edged boards, and subsequent positive feedback on a customer survey, we've decided to roll out the change to melamine on one side and 0.8mm ABS on the other side to all our other Cut and Edged boards.
It means that from the beginning of August, after our existing cut and edged stock has been sold through, all new stock being produced will have the dual-edging as standard, with melamine on one side and 0.8mm ABS on the other side. As the speed of stock turnover varies by colour it may take some time for the whole range to be available in the new upgraded specification.
The 0.8mm ABS edge is far superior to the 0.4mm melamine edge, giving a better finish and higher level of durability.
Our trade customers will no doubt appreciate that the price will remain the same, even with the new premium feature we've introduced.
Customers can order direct from our Cut & Edged stock, available straight off the shelf for immediate collection, rather than having to use our Cut-to-Spec service which is subject to a lead time.
It's also possible to used pre-glued melamine edging on the melamine edged side, should that be a consideration for a particular application.
For the improved edge durability at no extra cost and the easier availability, one word of caution: the melamine and ABS edgings are a slightly different shade so are not suitable for mixing on the same job.
